The Anindilyakwa Land Council (ALC) is a ‘future-forward’ Land Council, directed by the 14 clans of the Groote
archipelago region, is enabling the Anindilyakwa people to take full advantage of the opportunities and
technology available in the 21st century, while simultaneously preserving land, language and culture. The vision
of the ALC is to:

and Accountability Act 2013, described therein as a Corporate Commonwealth Entity and is currently a portfolio

About the role
The Preserving Culture (PC) department consists of seven cultural programs, Arts - 3 centres and an Arts
Gallery, Media - 2 studios, Radio - 2 broadcasting studios, Language - 2 centres, Music with 1 studio and two
temporary spaces, Men’s Shed based in Angurugu and male and female Anthropology staff based in community.
We have a capacity of 65 positions, located across three remote communities, predominantly based in and
around two Cultural Centres. The Department also oversees repatriation and keeping place, traditional dance
and maintains a fleet of cars, infrastructure, and public spaces in which the programs operate.
The Preserving Culture department are guided by their mission of Warnumamalya led programs sustaining,
sharing and celebrating strong culture and collectively have a multi-faceted role in supporting the maintenance,
promotion, and preservation of Anindilyakwa culture through their programs. All programs conduct their activities
both on and off Eylandt, attending national and territory events in addition to the many events organised across
the archipelago by the department.
The Administration Officer reports directly and works closely with the Operations & Administration Officer to
provide support to the PC coordinators and team members. The position is responsible for assisting with
administrative needs for the whole department and supporting the Operational and Administration Officer with the
