Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive, review, prepare and process invoices in readiness for processing, including ensuring that invoice details are in line with determined requirements. Input invoice details into computer system, scan invoice and process through to payment stage.
- Forward invoices to responsible officers to obtain authority and costing details and monitor the return to ensure timely payment. Where suppliers indicate outstanding accounts follow up invoice authorisation with responsible officers.
- Ensure all ATO requirements through GST are met and follow up with Authorised Officers where invoices submitted do not comply. Report any discrepancies in GST requirements to Responsible Finance Officer.
- Raise, sort, distribute and mail cheques to ensure timely receipt by creditors and process electronic transfer payments to supplier nominated bank accounts and distribute remittance advices as required.
- Provide control functions on Finance office daily receipting and the checking of and banking of monies (only if required)
- Maintain and provide support services for the reconciliation of Golf Course monies and the collection and charging of Windows on the Bay base and turnover rental charges.
- Process downloads for agency and BPay, Bpoint, Australia Post payments on sundry debtors, animal registrations etc. and bank statement reports.
- Process and update direct debit payments for hostels etc.
- Provide follow up services for unpresented cheques and prepare unclaimed monies register and summary advice to the government gazette in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Other transactional accounting duties as required or instructed with clear work instructions provided
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the transactional accounting functions for example but not limited to accounts payable, receivables, receipting and banking within a large complex organisation
- Demonstrated experience of processing large volume financial transactions
- A high level of computer literacy especially Excel
- A sound knowledge of Australian Taxation (GST) requirements and accepted general auditing standards is needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience in the processing of financial transactions in a direct customer liaison environment.
- At least secondary qualification; or knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training
