Your role
This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional to join Australian Unity’s Wealth & Capital Markets platform and develop their experience and knowledge. Wealth & Capital Markets comprises the Advice, Investments, Life & Super, Property, and Trustees business units. This position sits within the Trustees business.
Australian Unity’s Trustees business was established to provide and make more easily accessible a range of trustee services to all Australians including; estate planning, executor appointments and estate administration, financial attorney, financial and legal administration and the establishment and management of personal, native title, community and charitable trusts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the successful client centric management of Taxation Services at Australian Unity Trustees. This role will be responsible for assisting the Senior Accountant and Accounting Manager, NSW & ACT with the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns in accordance with relevant tax laws and the Tax Compliance Program requirements.

In this position, you will required to:

  • Develop a solid understanding of fundamental accounting and taxation principles, including the ability to interpret client data and financial information as presented
  • Complete bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations and process pay runs via online software (such as Xero and MYOB)
  • Prepare income tax returns, financial statements, and Business and Instalment Activity Statements

From a technical and educational perspective, you will bring to the role:

  • Commerce or Business degree, with at least 2 years’ experience with public practice or taxation services
  • Knowledge of basic financial concepts coupled with effective research and analytical skills
  • Proficient with the MS Office Professional Suite
  • A collaborative personality who thrives in a team with a focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
