What You'll Be Doing

  • The Aboriginal Mental Health Care Navigator will ensure systems, services and processes are established between Mental Health and non-government, primary care, social support, justice and drug and alcohol services
  • The Aboriginal Mental Health Care Navigator will co-ordinate a range of preventative, health and social care wrap around responses for Aboriginal consumers to support referral to appropriate services.
  • The role will work closely with the Aboriginal Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Workforce as well as Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol services within FWLHD.
  • The Aboriginal Mental Health Care Navigator will also work with and provide support to clinical teams in the provision and development of culturally informed assessment and treatment approaches.
  • Ensure the social, cultural and historical contexts are at the forefront of services offered through mental health services, with the Aboriginal Mental Health Care Navigator ensuring services build on the strengths, resources and knowledge of Aboriginal consumers, their families and carers.
